I love this baby more than life itself. She is my muse and the light in my world. She’s also the reason that I disappeared off the face of the earth last year and am just now resurfacing.
Just a little insight into where I’ve been for the last 6 months:
When I created my brand new website in 2013 I had such great intentions on keeping up with it on a regular basis…then I got pregnant. At first I was doing a fantastic job, but around July I started having contractions that were so major that I had to go to the hospital and have them stopped. More than once. Unfortunately for me, the main cause of these pesty contractions was sitting for long periods of time. There went my editing sessions at my desk, which meant no more client photo sessions, right along with updating my site. Boo.
Since I couldn’t take on any more portrait sessions or weddings in that condition, I made a promise to do a series of self portraits during my pregnancy in order to avoid getting rusty and also be able to keep a small flow of work that I could display on Instagram (my favorite!) and Facebook. That was easy until I gave birth to this little beauty that you see right here. The little bugger happened to break my tailbone on her way into this world. Imagine my discontent when I found out the one thing I wouldn’t be able to do again for several months…yep, no sitting at my desk.
All in all, I’d say I got a good deal. Sweet Baby Layne is the most wonderful thing to ever come into our lives and I can’t imagine life without her. In life you take the good with the bad, and with this cutie there’s a whole lotta good!
For the record, here is my declaration: I’m back! Back to shooting photos of people and things besides my lovely muse, back to long editing sessions (now while breast feeding) at my desk, and back to one of my greatest passions in life. So happy to be able to say this! It’s been a long road but also a very fulfilling one. I’ve got a hard drive full of lovely moments that can’t wait to be shown to the world. Now I just have to find the time to work on them. 😉 Stay tuned…and if you notice me slacking again just give me a jab.
